Known around these parts as "The Shepard Place" this homestead was built in 1920 and was trade and residence to the Shepard family for over 90 years. Four generations worked this beautiful southwestern Ohio farmland. Living and loving through good times and hard times, the Shepards created a magnificent "place" and made a home for their family's memories and traditions. Recent renovations have brought this property up to date without losing its original charm. The 3500 square foot barn is now a wedding and event venue unmatched in its rustic elegance. Renovations to the home have added modern conveniences to this country masterpiece while preserving the dignity and history of rural living in the 1900s. Today the tradition continues; The Shepard Place is STILL a place where everlasting memories are born.

All throughout the rehearsal dinner and reception we were told how beautiful the venue was. And I can’t say enough great things about the staff! Emily went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day vision came to life. She was so easy to work with and talk to and made sure there wasn’t any detail unthought of! With so many moving parts in planning a wedding it was so comforting to know The Shepard Place was continually working in the background to make sure it all blended together! The scenery around the barn was just as amazing. With so many different spots to choose from, it looks like we traveled to multiple places in our photos! The location is just far enough away fro Troy to not have lots of traffic driving by during our outdoor ceremony but it was still close enough to make last second errands and family traveling very convenient. The perfect location!! I would recommend The Shepard Place over and over again. They were the perfect venue for my husband and I as well as the perfect staff to work with when it came to planning a wedding.

Relaxed rustic elegance…the Grieser family goes above and beyond to help make your special day/event run as smoothly as possible! They pay attention to every detail and help wherever they can. Our son and DIL’s wedding & reception went off without a hitch, everything about the day was perfect!! We can’t recommend The Shepard Place highly enough! Our DIL and her family hosted a fabulous day of celebration!

The Shepard Place is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Its pricing is inclusive so you do not feel as if you are getting any surprise charges. The staff worked with me on the lay out and let me see the venue a few times. They were not bothered with all of my questions and were more than willing to answer them. I wanted an outdoor ceremony and the staff helped ensure there was a handicap accessible aisle for my mom who is in a wheelchair. That meant a lot. Highly recommend.

My wedding was exactly what I had always imagined it would be thanks to The Shepard Place! Emily and her family helped make my day very special from start to finish. They were very helpful in finding other vendors for food, makeup, entertainment, etc. I could not have planned my wedding/ gotten through the actual day without all of their help. I love this venue and those who work so hard running it!

The people who own this Venue are honestly some of the best people I have ever met! These people went above and beyond for my wedding and I will ALWAYS recommend them. All of the people there helped us set up, pack up, kept us on schedule, transported us on the golf cart, like the list can go on. My son and daughter-in-law were married here at The Shepard Place in September and I would just like to leave a few words about our experience. From day 1 when we went to look at the venue EVERYONE knew this was going to be the place for their wedding. The family that owns and runs this venue are the most AMAZING people I've ever dealt with! They made us feel comfortable from the moment we met. They are so professional and sincere in wanting to make your day something you'll never forget and they DEFINITELY delivered! I can't say enough great things about them and how much we appreciated everything they did for us. We couldn't have asked for a better wedding for our kids and we will forever be grateful for that.
